EXCLUSIVE: Hot off the presses, Mary Kubica’s latest novel It’s Not Her has been optioned by French studio and Narcos and Lupin producer Gaumont for development as a television series.

It’s Not Her hit bookstands on Tuesday. Published by Park Row Books, the novel is a murder mystery about a woman’s peaceful lakeside family getaway that goes terribly wrong.

“As soon as we cracked open Mary’s incredibly compelling, tense, and surprising novel, we knew it was something special,” Nicolas Atlan, President of Gaumont U.S., said in a statement. “It starts with a bang and never lets up. Our team has long admired Mary’s work and we can’t wait to bring this one to life.”

Here’s the synopsis for It’s Not Her:

“Courtney Gray’s tranquil family vacation is shattered when she hears a blood-curdling scream from the lakeside cottage next door. There she finds the lifeless bodies of her brother and sister-in-law. Her teenage niece Reese is nowhere to be found, while her nephew Wyatt lies asleep upstairs, unharmed. As the police descend on the quiet resort town, disturbing secrets about Courtney’s family start to emerge. As Courtney begins to unravel the terrible mystery, she realizes that everyone around her has something to hide. And the closer she gets to the truth, the harder it is to see.”

Kubica is the bestselling author of 10 suspense novels including The Good Girl, Local Woman Missing and She’s Not Sorry. Her novels have been translated into over thirty languages and have sold over five million copies worldwide.

The author is repped by Trellis Literary Management, WME, and attorney Scott E. Schwimer.
