The pair remain in custody at Parkside Police Station.

Police arrested a 61-year-old man from Peterborough on Wednesday also on suspicion of assisting an offender.

He has since been released on bail and ordered to return to Thorpe Wood Police Station on April 27, reports CambridgeshireLive.

In a previous statement, Detective Chief Inspector Richard Stott, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “Detectives have been working hard since Friday to piece together how and why Conor ended up in the river, and we have multiple lines of enquiry which are being followed.”

“Specialist officers are supporting his family, and there will be increased patrols in the area over the coming days.”

He added that: “There will be increased patrols in the area over the coming days.”

A spokesperson for the force said on Wednesday: “Detectives today confirmed they are treating the death of a man, whose body was found in the River Nene in Peterborough on Saturday (24 January), as murder.

“The man can also be named as Conor Kinlan, 30, of no fixed address.

“Officers were called to Pleasure Fair Meadow Road, near Town Bridge, at about noon on Friday following reports a man had been chased and entered the river.

“Specialist dive teams were brought in and Conor’s body was recovered in the early hours of the following day.”

Officers have urged any witnesses to come forward by visiting the force’s website or by calling 101.
