(NewsNation) — Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., and former Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski praised President Trump’s impact in the first year of his second term in the White House.
Donalds and Lewandowski joined “On Balance” to review Trump’s performance as he travels to Switzerland to meet with European leaders.
“The border was closed so quickly under this administration, people forget what it was like just a year ago,” Lewandowski told NewsNation.
“We encounter about 180 people on average at the border right now. Under the Biden administration, it was 10,000 people a day who were trying to get into this country.
“It was so dramatic that people don’t remember a year ago, what it was like when we were literally under invasion,” he added.
Lewandowski also rebuked mainstream media coverage of ICE operations across America, suggesting the Trump administration’s goal is to make cities safer.
“Ninety-three percent of the legacy media coverage, as relates to ICE, has been negative,” Lewandowski said, citing the conservative Media Research Center’s study.
“Which means you see an increase in violence against our police officers, you see an increase in doxxing, you see an increase in threats against them. So, it’s very difficult if you’re out there as a Federal officer, doing your job every day, going after the worst of the worst, the rapist, the pedophiles, the murderers, the convicts, the drug dealers.
“The media has this narrative that the Trump administration’s goal to make your community safer is actually hurting the average person,” Lewandowski added.
