(NewsNation) — Minnesota motorist Renee Macklin Good had multiple apparent gunshot wounds and was “unresponsive, not breathing” when first responders arrived on the scene, according to an incident report from the Minneapolis Fire Department.
The newly released report and transcripts of witnesses’ 911 calls offer insight into the Jan. 7 fatal shooting by federal officer Jonathan Ross, which sparked unrest in Minneapolis and protests nationwide.
Macklin Good, 37, had two apparent gunshot wounds to her right chest, one on her left forearm and another possible wound on the left side of her head, the report said.
“She tried to drive away but crashed into the nearest vehicle that was parked,” one caller told 911 dispatchers. “I saw blood all over the driver, then the partner who was trying to provide assistance.”
Another caller told dispatch, “They just shot a lady, point-blank range in her car,” adding: “There’s 15 ICE agents, and they shot her, like, ’cause she wouldn’t open her car door.”
One caller reaching out to 911 on behalf of federal Homeland Security officers mentioned the shooting.
“We had officers stuck in a vehicle, and we had agitators on scene,” the caller said. “And we have shots fired by our locals.”
When asked for a description of the shooter, the caller told 911, “No, I don’t have any of that stuff, we’re just trying to get assistance.”
Medics performed chest compressions, applied a tourniquet to Macklin Good’s arm and ventilated her while both on the scene and transporting her away. Responders transported her to the hospital, where resuscitative efforts were later “discontinued,” according to the report.
Macklin Good’s killing has led to protests in Minneapolis and elsewhere as demonstrators push back on the federal government’s narrative.
Trump administration officials have labeled her a “domestic terrorist” and argue she was attempting to run Ross over during their interaction. But protesters and Minnesota lawmakers say she was trying to leave the scene when she reversed her vehicle.
