A MAN has been charged with murder following the death of a 65-year-old woman on New Year’s Eve.
Cops scrambled to an address in Maple Gardens, Yateley, Hampshire, yesterday morning after the alarm was raised that a body had been found at the property.
When officers arrived at the scene they discovered the body of Janet Bowen, 65.
Her family have been informed of the tragedy and are currently being supported by specialist officers.
Today, detectives charged Michael Bowen, 34, of Maple Gardens, Yateley, with murder.
He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Friday, the force said.
Hampshire Constabulary said: “Police were called at 9:40am on Wednesday 31 December to a report that 65-year-old Janet Bowen had been located deceased at an address on Maple Gardens in Yateley.
“Her family have been informed and are being supported by officers.
“Officers from our Major Crime Team have today charged Michael Bowen, 34, of Maple Gardens, Yateley with murder.
“He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court tomorrow (Friday 2 January).”
