COPS have launched an urgent investigation after a man in his 40s was mysteriously found dead outside a property.
Police and emergency services swooped on the scene and discovered a body at around 4.30am on Longford Road in Cannock, Staffordshire, this morning.
Paramedics attempted CPR but the man was sadly confirmed deceased a short time later.
Staffordshire Police is currently treating the man’s death as unexplained and has appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.
Patrols will be stepped up in the area over the coming days to reassure the community, said the force.
Cops urged anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or who has doorbell or dashcam footage of the area in the past eight hours to get in touch immediately.
Staffordshire Police said any witnesses should contact 101 quoting incident number 110 of 30 November.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “We are appealing for information after a man’s body has been found outside an address in Cannock.
“We were called to Longford Road at around 4.30am this morning (30 November).
“Paramedics attempted CPR, but the body was sadly confirmed deceased a short time later.
“At this stage we are keeping an open mind about this incident, with the death remaining unexplained, and we are keen to establish the circumstances leading up to his death.
“The next of kin of the man, who was in his 40s, have been informed and are now being supported by specially trained officers.
“There will be an increase in the number of local police officers in the area today to provide reassurance and help gather evidence.”
