A HORRIFIC train crash has taken the lives of 11 maintenance workers and injured two in China’s deadliest railway accident in a decade.
The accident occurred while the train was testing earthquake detection equipment early this morning at Luoyang Town station in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province.

Kunming Railway Bureau said the train “passing normally through a curve inside Kunming Luoyang Town Station when a collision happened with construction workers who had entered the track area.”
The station has resumed normal service since the incident.
China’s rail network is the world’s largest, is often lauded for its efficiency but has drawn fire for several high-profile incidents.
It spans more than 100,000 miles and chalking up billions of trips a year.

A 2011 crash in the eastern province of Zhejiang killed 40 and injured 200.
Nine were killed in 2021 when a train in the in the north-western province of Gansu ran into workers.
