Footage of the incident shared online shows nearby shoppers looking on as black smoke billowed over the Peel Circle section of the shopping centre.

Bright orange flames leapt into the air as stunned bystanders watched the chaos unfold.

The vehicle was seen spewing thick clouds of smoke as the fire quickly took hold.

But firefighters who scrambled to the area began putting out the blaze after the alarm was raised.

CHEF GONE

One of UK’s most acclaimed Michelin-awarded chefs dies aged 62

It took brave crew members about 35 minutes to extinguish it fully before they left the scene.

Three other vehicles were damaged in the blaze said the fire service.

But thankfully, no one was injured in the fire on Saturday.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At just after 2.30pm this afternoon (Saturday 22 November), one fire engine from Eccles Community Fire Station was called to attend a car fire at Peel Circle in Trafford.

“Crews arrived quickly and used one hose reel, one breathing apparatus and one thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire which involved one vehicle which had affected three other vehicles.

“Firefighters worked to make the area safe before departing after approximately 35 minutes.”

It comes after shocking footage revealed the moment a veteran’s gazebo was set on fire.

Dennis Coles, 66, from Stockton-on-Tees, was soaking in the hot tub in his shed when his gazebo burst into flames.

The shocking footage captures the moment their neighbour of 25 years tossed a rag he set alight over the fence and onto the roof of the gazebo.

The fire quickly took hold with further footage showing embers burning through its ceiling and onto the table and patio below.
