THE Chancellor will launch a £5m crackdown on dodgy directors running barber shops and vape stores.

She wants to stop rogue bosses who suddenly trigger the liquidation of their company to evade tax and write off debts.

The cash will pay for 50 new Insolvency Service staff to disqualify company directors abusing the process.

A Treasury source said: “Businesses are the backbone of our economy – we won’t let dodgy directors repeatedly close companies and then reopen them to avoid paying their debts and keep hold of their assets.

“This fresh firepower will unleash more experts to catch unscrupulous directors, ban them from running businesses, and save the British taxpayer millions.”

In other Budget related news, it was reported that if Ms Reeves decides to extend the freeze on income tax thresholds for another two years it will drag nearly one million more low earners into paying.

Ms Badenoch said it would breach Labour’s manifesto, which promised not to increase taxes on “working people”.

And she blasted: “She should have the balls to stand up on Wednesday and admit that to British taxpayers.

“Anything less will confirm that she is a coward who can’t take responsibility for her actions.”

It follows a shambolic few weeks in which the Chancellor abandoned plans to hike income tax.

A poll shared exclusively with The Sun on Sunday shows the majority of Brits are terrified about Budget tax rises.
