A TEENAGE girl was raped after a night out in a busy city centre this weekend.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape in connection with the incident and he is still in custody whilst cops have launched an investigation.
The 17-year-old victim was approached by a man in the early hours of Sunday morning in Leeds. She was then taken to a nearby location where the assault is thought to have taken place.
Cops have urged anyone with information to come forward.
A spokesperson from West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses or information after a teenage girl was raped in Leeds city centre at the weekend.
“The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning (9/11).
“The 17-year-old victim was on a night out in the Call Lane area of the city centre.
“She left the Back Room Bar on Call Lane shortly before 2:15am and was approached by a man who took her to a nearby location where the offence is believed to have taken place.
“The victim was then left by the suspect on Assembly Street.
“Detectives from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed anything suspicious to please come forward.”
Detective Inspector Hannah Dixon said: “This incident happened in the city centre in the early hours of a weekend morning when there were many people in the area on a night out who may have seen something that could assist our investigation.
“I would like to ask anyone who was in the Call Lane area at this time who may have seen a man assisting or attempting to assist a young female, to please come forward.”
