The prisoner was found dead in the West Yorkshire lock up on Wednesday morning.

The suspects have been remanded into custody and are due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court this morning.

Bevan was jailed for killing his two-year-old stepdaughter Lola James in a brutal attack at her home in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, in 2020.

The sadistic stepdad inflicted 101 injuries likened to a high speed car crash on the toddler in a “frenzied” attack.

Bevan failed to call an ambulance immediately and instead recorded a “disturbing” 22 second film of stricken Lola as he attempted to prop her up.

Two-year-old Lola died four days after the horror.

Lola’s mum Sinead James was also found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child.

‘They thought he was asleep’

Police were called to HMP Wakefield – nicknamed Monster Mansion due to its catalogue of notorious and current and former inhabitants –  at 8.25am on Wednesday after reports a man had been found dead in his cell.

A source told the Daily Mail Bevan was found in bed with head and throat injuries.

The source said: “We think he was already dead last night, but was tucked up in bed and when they did the lock-up cell check they thought he was asleep.”

The Prison Service confirmed his identity on Wednesday evening.

A Prison Service spokesperson said: “HMP Wakefield prisoner Kyle Bevan’s death was confirmed on 5 November.

“We are unable to comment further while the police investigate.”

It comes just weeks after Ian Watkins was ambushed and had his throat slashed in the same prison.

Rico Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, have been charged with murdering the ex-Lostprophets frontman.

Watkins, 48 – who was serving 35 years for a string of child sex offences, including the attempted rape of a baby – was the most high-profile inmate to be killed in a UK jail in living memory.

The disgraced singer – who had narrowly survived previous assaults by inmates – died from blood loss after having his jugular slashed.
