COPS have launched an urgent probe after a woman reported being sexually assaulted by a balaclava-clad man in a residential area.
Warwickshire Police are investigation after the woman reported the incident in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, on Tuesday evening.
Officers said the woman was attacked by the man at the junction of St Nicolas Park Drive and Rydall Avenue between 5pm and 6pm.
Cops described the suspect as a white man, around 5ft 7in tall and of medium build.
He was wearing a balaclava and a black tracksuit and was said to be carrying a black bag, according to Warwickshire Police.
Officers carried out door-to-door enquiries following the horror.
Cops urged any witnesses to come forward immediately.
Information can be provided on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
Police said that the attack is not believed to be linked to recent incidents in Ansley and Arley, in Nuneaton.
Cops are investigating two linked assaults on lone women in villages near Nuneaton, earlier this month.
Warwickshire Police described the main suspect as having long dark hair, tanned skin, stubble and a foreign accent, possibly Eastern European.
A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “An investigation is underway after a man is reported to have sexually assaulted a woman between 5pm and 6pm on St Nicolas Park Drive yesterday (October 28).
“It was reported to us last night, and a specialist investigation was immediately launched.
“While we do not think this assault is linked to the ones that happened in Ansley and Arley recently, we are keeping an open mind and will continue to review this.
“We have been conducting house-to-house enquiries, speaking with potential witnesses, combing CCTV and working to support the victim.
“Neighbourhood officers are in the area. Please come and speak with them if you have concerns.”
