He was originally from Wakefield, West Yorks, but lived in Thailand where he ran a health supplies company.

The crash occurred when he lost control of his powerful KTM 1290 Super Duke near an underpass on the Chiang Mai-Lampang Highway at around 12:20 am local time

Police are reviewing CCTV cameras and interviewing witnesses as they investigate the accident.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Adulsiri Wongtankard, of the Mae Ping Police Station, said: “I feel sorry for the victim’s relatives. This is a deeply traumatic event.

“People who witnessed the incident are in shock.

“The British Embassy in Bangkok has the details of the accident and his identity.”

Craig’s Thai friend Aomkhwan Pronpan paid tribute to him online.

She said: “Thank you for always supporting me.

“You are my best brother.

“Have a safe trip. Rest in peace.”
