A COP who passed confidential information to his lover as they shared more than 40,000 intimate messages has been jailed.
Daniel Humphreys, 38, sent her a photo of a stab victim and details about criminals.
Other messages were sexist, homophobic and racist, it was said.
Southwark crown court heard he was “blinded by love” and wanted to impress the unnamed woman, a victim of domestic abuse, because she was keen to become a special constable.
Humphreys likened the info to a dentist sharing X-rays.
The pair met when he went to arrest her boyfriend on suspicion of assault on July 4, 2019.
The case was dropped but PC Humphreys, of Coulsdon, South London, messaged the woman and they “began a sexual relationship”.
He admitted they shared tens of thousands of messages but said that he “had no professional involvement” with her after July 4.
Humphreys left the Met in 2023 after 13 years.
He was convicted of misconduct in public office by sharing confidential police information till November 2021, and jailed for a year.
