Love Island’s ‘Messy’ Mitch Taylor has revealed his reality TV fame has faded – and he has had to return to his day job as he claims he’s ‘poor’.
The 27-year-old is back in his old stomping ground as a gas engineer after living off his Love Island clout for the past two years.
He first rose to fame on the 2023 series, and later returned for the All-Stars spin-off.
Mitch got open and honest with his fans on Friday as he dropped a bombshell life update, telling his audience why he has been so quiet recently.
He told his Snapchat followers: ‘Yes guys listen giving you an update on my life and to be honest with you. I’ve just not posted on Snapchat at all since. I’m grafting so much.
‘Guys, I didn’t have a nine to five for two years because old rock star famous cool guy.

‘Now, I’m poor, so I’ve got to work. And I can’t go on a dating shows because I’m in love with a girl. But it’s not that guys, it’s just like I’ve been working loads.’
Mitch struck up a reputation on Love Island of jumping between girls in the villa.
He initially paired up with Molly Marsh, only for him to later pursue Leah Taylor, Jess Harding, Ella Barnes and Abi Moores.
Last year, he decided to give the show another go, but his time on there was short-lived.
Mitch clashed with Liberty Poole and was kicked off the show.
But he found love elsewhere outside the villa as he’s been dating South African TikTok creator Hayley Griffin for over a year, and the pair went public in July 2024.
Hayley previously joked about keeping him off the telly, saying: ‘Me taking Mitch on as a boyfriend so no one has to watch him on Love Island again.’
For fans, though, ‘Messy Mitch’ will remain one of the most memorable Islanders in recent years.

He previously said of his character: ‘I’ll be honest, with me saying we’re not getting Messy Mitch, it’s like a character I don’t know I’ve got.
‘It depends on what day of the week it is. If I wake up in a bad mood…I don’t really have a choice.
‘I think Messy Mitchel comes without me doing it. It’s not like my alter ego or my super character or whatever you want to call it.
‘I can’t say yes or no if Messy Mitchel will come or not? I don’t know.’
