A man fell into a manhole in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday, prompting an emergency response and traffic detours.
The incident at the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Maple Avenue was reported to the L.A. Fire Department just before noon.
Hazardous materials units and urban search-and-rescue units responded, and the Department of Transportation rerouted traffic.
Additionally, police officers are on scene for a reported assault, though it’s unclear if the assault is connected to the manhole incident.
