A dramatic collision involving a vehicle transporter and a big rig has left lanes closed on the southbound 405 Freeway through the Brentwood area of Los Angeles during the Wednesday commute.
The incident was reported around 2:15 a.m. on the southbound 405 near West Sunset Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol incident log.
Video showed that a big rig had hit the car hauler from behind, pushing a portion of the hauler’s ramp through the back of the truck’s cab.
Officials have not confirmed any injuries resulting from the crash, but freelance media firm KNN reported that two people were seriously hurt.
All southbound lanes appeared to be temporarily closed as emergency crews responded to the scene.
The two left lanes and the Getty Center Drive ramp to the southbound 405 remained closed as of 5 a.m.
Heavy delays were building as commuters attempted to make their way through the Sepulveda Pass. The closure was expected to remain in place until around 7:20 a.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Wednesday’s crash marks the second major incident on the same stretch of freeway in a little more than a week.
On June 23, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Shiou Deng was killed on the 405 near Getty Center Drive when he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to render aid at a traffic collision.
