A 12-year-old boy died in a collision between a car and a moving van in the San Fernando Valley on Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

The crash was first reported in the 4400 block of Woodman Avenue in Sherman Oaks around 10:15 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department stated.

While the circumstances surrounding the crash were initially limited, the LAFD stated that the vehicle had crashed into a parked moving van. Three people were transported to hospitals, and a fourth was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified only as a 12-year-old boy sitting in the front passenger seat.

“An adult female and a 10-year-old [boy] were transported per protocol for a fatality,” LAFD said in a public alert. “They did not have any apparent injuries.”

A third person was transported for “medical reasons not involved in the collision.”

The Los Angeles Police Department and Crisis Management teams are on scene providing assistance to the family.
