Authorities are asking the public for help in their search for a 12-year-old girl who disappeared in Los Angeles County earlier this week.
The California Highway Patrol activated an Ebony Alert on behalf of the Gardena Police Department for Kaela Layaoen, who has not been contacted since Wednesday.
Investigators said she was last seen in the area of West El Segundo Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard around 9 a.m. and was believed to be on foot.
Layaoen stands 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 110 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a pink and blue spider sweatshirt and blue jeans.
No further details about her disappearance or where she may be headed were provided.
Anyone who sees Layaoen should call 911.
