A student was gravely injured after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of a private San Fernando Valley school and at least five others were injured, authorities announced Wednesday afternoon.
Personnel with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to reports of the incident at Campbell Hall, located at 4533 Laurel Canyon Boulevard, in Studio City just after 3 p.m., fire officials said in a news release.
Details are limited and it’s unclear exactly how the incident unfolded, though authorities with the L.A. Police Department said the involved vehicle was a green 2025 Rivian SUV.
The victim, only described as a teenage male, was rushed to the hospital along with his uninjured father.
Aerial footage of the scene captured by Sky5 showed both police and firefighters at the location where a canopy had been set up between the Rivian and a smaller white SUV.
Another teen, also a male who is unrelated to the victim, also reported minor injuries during the incident. Fire officials said paramedics on the scene were treating the boy for unspecified injuries and waiting on parental guidance before possible transport to the hospital.
In an updated release, fire officials said an additional minor and three other adults were also injured, their conditions only described as “unspecified” and “non-life threatening.”
“The mayor’s crisis team is en route to offer emotional support and recovery assistance to relatives and witnesses at the scene,” the release stated.
No information was provided about the age and gender of the SUV driver or whether speed or alcohol/drugs may have been a factor in the crash.
