Restoration is complete on an iconic mural depicting Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter that was vandalized one month ago in downtown L.A.
The beloved mural was created by artist Louie “Sloe” Motion shortly after the 2020 death of the Lakers legend and his daughter, Gigi.
On April 29, the mural located on Main Street near West 14th Street was seen covered in graffiti, prompting a GoFundMe to raise money for the original artist to give it a full restoration.
The fundraiser quickly surpassed its goal of $5,000 when the entire amount was donated by current Lakers star Luka Dončić.
Work to restore the mural began immediately and can be enjoyed once again by pedestrians and motorists on the busy Downtown street. “I’ve driven by there many times,” KTLA’s Eric Spillman said.
Dončić came to the Lakers during this year’s NBA season thanks to a trade involving the Dallas Mavericks.
