Alexa Joel has offered words of love and support in her first public statement since her dad, Billy Joel, announced he was canceling his concerts for medical reasons.
The Piano Man singer, 76, revealed last week that he had been diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), a condition where excess cerebrospinal fluid builds up in the brain ventricles.
‘SOUND UP,’ the singer and songwriter, 39, began with her usual greeting. ‘We love you and we got you, Pop!’
Speaking to her and her father’s fans she said, ‘I just wanted to thank you all for the beautiful outpouring of love and support amid the recent news of My Father’s health diagnosis.’
‘My Dad is the strongest and most resilient man I’ve ever known… and he’s entirely committed to making a full recovery with ongoing physical-therapy treatments as he continues to regain his strength,’ she explained.

The Big Shot singer is also dad to Della, almost 10, and Remy, seven, whom he shares with his wife Alexis Roderick.
‘The genuine care, empathy, and concern from everyone means so much to him… it means a lot to me, too.’
Alexa, who performed with her dad in 2024 at Madison Square Garden, then finished the statement with the lyrics of Lullabye (Good Night My Angel) which her father wrote for her.

‘I heard and I’m happy to hear he is optimistic. I have no doubt he will be back on top soon,’ said a well-wisher.

In a statement released on his Instagram page, the Just the Way You Are singer revealed that the show he had been performing had made his condition worse, ‘leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance.’
Joel had been planning on performing well into 2026 before he was forced to call off his shows.
The decision to cancel came after the New York State of Mind artist fell at a show in Connecticut in February.
The hitmaker had originally planned to stay off the road through June, citing an un-named medical condition at that time.
