A pursuit ended with a violent crash on late Monday afternoon, with the suspect’s car landing on its roof and a deputy’s car ramming into a home in South Bay near the Goodyear Blimp base.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lakewood station, the suspect was wanted for carjacking and was driving the stolen car.
Around 4:20 p.m., the suspect purportedly crashed into a tractor-trailer, but continued driving.
The driver, who officials have not identified, crashed again around 4:30 p.m. and rolled over.
Details are limited, but Sky5 was overhead around 4:45 p.m., and it appeared a deputy’s squad vehicle had been struck during the pursuit, causing it to veer off the road and crash into the front wall of a Carson home.
Paramedics responded to the residence located along Broadway and South Main streets to treat the deputy, who KTLA’s Gil Leyvas reported seeing up against the house.
Officials did not reveal the status of the deputy or the suspect as of 5 p.m. Monday, but said no one was transported from the scene.
In addition, Leyvas reported seeing that the suspect was in custody and the deputy was being treated.
