A 21-year-old man has been arrested for reckless driving and evading police after leading a dangerous high-speed chase through Irvine on May 4.
Authorities say an officer spotted the driver speeding through town and when police attempted a traffic stop, the driver took off, prompting officers to end the pursuit out of safety concerns.
The suspect allegedly ditched his car at Irvine Valley College and ran off, but campus police soon found it and contacted Irvine PD. After securing a search warrant for the dash cam footage, officers obtained the driver’s dashcam footage after serving a warrant and after reviewing the video, gathered enough evidence to identify him.
Authorities say the driver also left his wallet and license behind.
But he turned himself in Saturday and is now facing charges of reckless driving and evading arrest.
