On this Mother’s Day, a local artist is capturing and celebrating the diverse nature of motherhood as part of a project entitled “Stories of Motherhood” that highlights mothers.
“What I’m doing with this project is I’m photographing mothers from all different walks of life and I’m learning their stories,” artist Brianna Shrader told KTLA Photojournalist Joshua Jenkins.
All of the mothers were photographed with their children and had their stories written and published ahead of a May 8 gala at the Park Club in Costa Mesa.
The event featured a gallery exhibit showcasing the powerful portraits alongside their personal narratives.
A portion of the proceeds of the gala went to Girls Inc., an organization serving approximately 114,000 girls annually, providing them with mentorship programs and opportunities to help them realize their full potential, according to a news release.
“Mothers shape the next generation,” Shrader said. “By partnering with Girls Inc., we’re not just celebrating mothers – we’re investing in their daughters, their futures, and the communities they will lead.”
