Authorities in Riverside County have ruled the death of Jeff Sperbeck an accident after he fell off the back of a golf cart last month.
Sperbeck, 62, died after being taken off of life support on April 30. On April 26, he was riding a golf cart reportedly being driven by Hall of Fame NFL quarterback John Elway at The Madison Club in La Quinta, when he fell off and hit his head.
Sperbeck was a longtime friend, agent and business manager of the former Denver Broncos QB.
On Friday, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said its Coroner’s Bureau ruled the death an accident.
Sperbeck died of blunt head trauma, the coroner said.
Elway was already cleared of any wrongdoing. Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco told the Denver Post that he didn’t believe Elway was drunk at the time of Sperbeck’s fall.
As of Friday, officials haven’t said how Sperbeck fell from the cart.
