Rain continued to fall on portions of Southern California, making for a wet commute Monday morning.
Wraparound moisture from a system centered over southern Arizona brought light to moderate rain on Sunday, with showers continuing overnight, especially further inland.
The National Weather Service called for an additional .2 to .3 inches of rain in the San Bernardino area from Sunday afternoon through Monday. Big Bear Lake could see close to a half-inch of rain.
“Maybe some thunderstorms developing later this afternoon,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said.
For the majority of the region, cloudy morning skies are expected to give way to some sunshine this afternoon, although temperatures are likely to remain below normal.
“A warming trend will take shape through the week with above normal temperatures developing inland for late week,” the NWS stated in its forecast discussion Monday morning.
Temperatures increase significantly by Thursday and Friday, with downtown Los Angeles climbing into the mid-80s by Saturday. Inland regions could see highs in the 90s for the upcoming weekend.
