The Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona is celebrating opening day Friday with discounted tickets and a new theme, “Art Unleashed”.

”The Fair has been a celebration of art for more than a century: home arts, culinary arts, visual arts, performing arts, fine arts. The art of having fun. The art of making memories,” organizers posted on the Fair’s website.

As always, the L.A. County Fair will entertain guests with eccentric foods and beverages, adorable farm animals, blue ribbon competitions, concerts and over 70 carnival rides.

KTLA’s Jacqueline Sarkissian held on to a selfie cam as she tested out “The Raptor,” a green and orange high-speed roller coaster.

The video showed that Jacqueline also kept her word when she said, “I’m probably going to yell,” as she stepped into what was described by L.A. County Fair CEO Walter Marquez as one of the scariest rides in the park.

Guests looking to enjoy opening day at the L.A. County Fair on Friday will have to wait until 5 p.m., but can come in for a special rate of $9.50. The park will close at 11 p.m.

Regular park hours for the rest of this year’s run, which continues between May 3 and May 26, will be from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate on the day of your visit. The Fair’s website says that tickets bought at the gate will cost more.

The Fairplex is located at 1101 W. McKinley Ave. in Pomona.
