A destructive home fire left at least one woman hospitalized on late Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles.
According to the L.A. City Fire Department, it was just after 4 p.m. when crews responded to the 3000 block of West Stocker Place for reports of a structure fire.
Upon arriving at the location in Leimert Park, firefighters found heavy fire in one first floor unit of a two story residential fourplex.
LAFD said it ultimately took 40 firefighters about 18 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish the blaze, which had extended to cause damage to the unit directly above.
“One adult female civilian with severe burn injuries has been transported by LAFD paramedics to an area hospital in serious condition,” said the department in a release.
Officials did not immediately specify whether the woman was inside the home when the fire erupted.
However, LAFD said no other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
