A big honor for a good friend of KTLA 5.

Award-winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph received a well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Her family, all of her “Abbott Elementary” costars, her sorority sisters, “Dreamgirls” costar Loretta Devine and more were in attendance for the ceremony. She told KTLA 5 Morning Show executive producer Marcus Smith that she was taken aback by the large crowd that gathered around to watch the ceremony.

“The fire department had to give them an okay to be out there in the street the way they were! My sorority (sisters), a sea of red, the Deltas were out!” she exclaimed.

Ralph’s career spans more than four decades, including starring in Broadway’s “Dreamgirls” as the original Deena Jones. Beyoncé later filled the role for the film version of the musical. That role earned Ralph a Tony nomination.

The “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit” star has also been a regular guest on the KTLA 5 Morning News. She even sat at the anchor desk to fill in for Sam Rubin. When she wasn’t informing viewers about the latest Hollywood news, she was sharing her wisdom in her 2019 KTLA 5 podcast “Diva Defined.”

Ralph’s star is located between Whitley and Cherokee Avenues along Hollywood Boulevard.
