Two women were pronounced dead shortly after a shooting was reported near an elementary school in Compton Tuesday evening.
Deputies were called to the scene on West Caldwell Street and South Central Avenue near Caldwell Street Elementary around 7:15 p.m. where they found a crashed Toyota sedan stopped on the sidewalk near a traffic pole.
The two unidentified victims, including one who was still inside the car, were found with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.
Video showed the Toyota with the front windshield covered by a sheet as family and friends of the victims gathered at the scene.
There was talk that the two women were related but investigators have not confirmed any relationship between the victims.
There was no immediate word on a motive for the shooting and no descriptions have been released of any possible suspects.
Investigators are searching for witnesses.
