A suspect wanted in connection with a shooting in Nevada was arrested after he fled the state and shot at victims along the 15 Freeway in Southern California.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Gloria Orejel confirmed to KTLA that the suspect in question shot a victim in Nevada and fled south into California.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including where in Nevada it took place, were not disclosed.

The suspect, while on the 15 Freeway, shot other people, and additional victims were shot in Baker, Orejel stated.

“The suspect eventually stopped, and he was taken into custody,” Orejel continued.

Exactly how many people were shot and their conditions are not known.

No further details surrounding the active investigation were released by authorities, but KTLA spoke with a clerk at the 76 gas station located on Baker Boulevard who said he heard two loud thump sounds and went to the front door of the gas station’s store to see a man in a black truck with flashing hazard lights at a nearby stop sign.

The clerk added that he observed the man holding a large handgun with what appeared to be a silencer. It seemed as if the man was looking for someone, but it did not look like he was in a rush, the clerk elaborated further.

The employee was unable to provide any more information on what he saw. KTLA has requested more details on the incident, but none were immediately available.

Baker is a census-designated place in central San Bernardino County along the 15 Freeway with a population of 442. Known as the “Gateway to Death Valley,” the rural desert community is home to the world’s tallest thermometer, which is 134 feet tall.
