A bible given to O.J. Simpson by friend and lawyer, Robert Kardashian Sr., was sold at auction for a hefty price.
An anonymous buyer purchased the bible on Saturday for $80,276 with a total of 49 bids placed on it, according to the listing on Goldin Auctions.
“A token of friendship and support, during a tumultuous period of late Hall of Famer O.J. Simpson’s life, Simpson’s friend and lawyer, the late Robert Kardashian, gifted this personalized copy of ‘The Living Bible’ to Simpson, leaving a heartfelt inscription dated June 18, 1994, the day after the infamous Ford Bronco chase,” the description reads on the site. “The decades-long friendship between Kardashian and Simpson began during the late 1960s while both were students at USC and continued as both men found fame and success in their lives, with Simpson serving as the best man at Kardashian and Kris Houghton’s wedding during the late 1970s.”
The inscription from Kardashian reads:
“O.J., This book will help. God loves and he will speak to you with his words. Read this book everyday. God has a definite plan for your life. You are his child and he will use you again. I love you and God loves you.”
He signed the note as just “Robert” with the date “June 18, 1994.”
Kardashian represented Simpson during his trial murder trial in the mid-90s. He served as part of the NFL Hall of Famers’ legal team, which was dubbed as “The Dream Team.” In 1995 Simpson was acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.
Prior to the auction, TMZ reported that Kardashian’s daughter, Kim Kardashian, allegedly offered $15,000 to buy the bible. However, she was turned down.
