Two suspects were arrested for allegedly stealing $50,000 worth of tools from a business in Riverside County.
The suspects were identified as Marselina Ortiz, 36, and Jason Warner, 43, both Long Beach residents, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
On March 11, deputies responded to reports of a burglary at a business in the 28000 block of Jefferson Avenue in Temecula.
The suspects had broken into the shop and stole around $50,000 worth of tools and property. They loaded the stolen goods into a vehicle that was parked at the site and did not belong to them, authorities said. They got into the car and drove away.
The victim’s credit card had also been stolen and was later used by the suspects to book a motel room in Santa Ana.
On March 15, authorities arrived at the motel and spotted the stolen car in the parking lot. When they saw the suspects leaving the room, they were detained by deputies.
A search warrant was served on the car and the motel room where a majority of the victim’s stolen items was recovered.
Ortiz was arrested for commercial burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, identity theft, fraudulent use of credit card information, and possession of a controlled substance.
Warner was arrested for commercial burglary. The case remains under investigation.
