Justin Bieber‘s troubling behaviour and heartbreaking messages about ‘drowning’ and feeling ‘unworthy’ have further fuelled concerns for his well-being – and the state of his marriage to Hailey.
His fans were left deeply concerned after he admitted to feeling ‘like a fraud’ and ‘unqualified most days’ following his rapid rise to fame as a young teenager in Canada. His frequently dishevelled appearance and smoking a bong on social media also ignited fears for his health.
The devastating messages came amid reports that Justin, 31, and wife Hailey, 28, who share son Jack Blues, could be heading towards a split following rumours of marital woes.
Now, insiders have claimed the couple are divided over religion, with Hailey said to be ‘disillusioned’ with Churchome – the celebrity-endorsed megachurch they have attended since cutting ties with controversial Hillsong.
‘They’re in the process of making a big decision about their church,’ a source told DailyMail.com, adding that their seven-month-old son has been the ‘catalyst’ as he has made Hailey ‘look at life and religion more closely’.
Hailey wants to make sure her son grows up with the ‘right values and beliefs’.

‘They’re in the process of making a big decision about their church,’ a source told DailyMail.com (Hailey spotted attending a church service in Los Angeles in September 2024)

Last weekend, Hailey voiced her rising distaste for pastors whose practices she questioned, claiming their use of alliteration ‘drives me bananas’
The Rhode Beauty founder has reportedly been ‘questioning her religion and values for a while,’ something that has left her ‘disillusioned and confused’.
Hailey isn’t sure ‘how to proceed’ and she and Justin ‘have been going back and forth about it’ while searching for an answer, the source added.
Before she began to question their church, religion was a huge part of their relationship, with the IMG model once admitting that if it wasn’t for their devout Christian bond she would not be with the Grammy winner.
‘It’s our faith,’ she said. ‘It’s what we believe in. If we didn’t have that, we wouldn’t even be here. We wouldn’t even be together.’
The couple first met in 2009 at his concert meet-and-greet but reportedly reconnected at Hillsong in 2014.
While they were on and off for many years and famously remained celibate until they wed, when they reunited in 2018, they were seen at a church conference in Miami before heading to a nightclub.
Before Churchome, Justin was massively involved with Hillsong and was close friends with ‘hypepriest’ Carl Lentz, who baptised him in 2014 after co-founding the megachurch in 2010. Carl was then controversially kicked out after his infidelity was exposed, which shocked worshippers.
The Sorry singer then cut ties with Carl in 2021 and declared he was part of Churchome, which describes itself as ‘a global community dedicated to offering everyone, regardless of background or beliefs, the chance to hear the story of Jesus’.

Justin has remained devoted to Churchome and even has a link to the church in his Instagram bio, where he has a whopping 294 million followers

Churchome is led by Judah Smith, who caters to Gen Z and millennials and is an influencer in his own right, with 722,000 Instagram followers.
Like Carl, Judah has dealt with plenty of his own controversies, including being accused of homophobia after he made a series comments in which he said he believed that being gay was a ‘sin’ that’s on the same level as ‘rape and murder’.
A Churchome employee also sued the organisation after she claimed she and other staffers were forced to donate 10 per cent of their wages back to the church or they’d face termination.
Now, Hailey is seemingly moving away from Churchome, much like Justin distanced himself from Hillsong previously.
Last weekend, she voiced her rising distaste for pastors, which was seemingly a call out on Instagram.
Over a meme of Elmo on fire she posted: ‘Pastors and preachers really love to just put words together with the same letter and act like it’s HITTING so crazy…’

The Beauty and a Beat hitmaker often posts religious content for his followers, including ‘an artists prayer with Amanda Cook’ in February.

Hailey’s apparent disillusionment comes amid Justin’s troubling behaviour which has sparked fears from fans
On August 20, he shared a ‘PRAYER OF GUIDENCE FROM MY BROSKI @judahsmith,’ from Churchome, cementing his devotion to Judah. Justin’s mother, Pattie Mallette, is also a longtime friend of the pastor.
Hailey’s struggles over the church come amid Justin’s personal toils, some of which he has made public on Instagram.
On Sunday he voiced his turmoil over living with ‘hate,’ telling followers he feels ‘unsafe’.
‘I was always told when I was a kid not to hate,’ he wrote. ‘But it made me feel like I wasn’t allowed to have it and so I didn’t tell anyone I’ve had it.
‘Which made me feel like I was drowning, unsafe to acknowledge it. I think we can only let hate go by first acknowledging its there.’
‘How couldn’t we feel hate from all of the hurt we’ve experienced,’ he concluded.
It came days after he told fans he had spent his career feeling ‘unworthy’ and like he was a ‘fraud’.
‘It made me feel sneaky like, damn if they only knew my thoughts. How judgmental I am, how selfish I really am… They wouldn’t be saying this.

Concerns were further fuelled in recent days after he posted heartbreaking messages about ‘drowning’ and feeling ‘unworthy’
‘I say all this to say, if you feel sneaky, welcome to the club. I definitely feel unequipped and unqualified most days.’
Hailey grew up in an extremely religious household with her parents Stephen Baldwin and Brazilian graphic designer Kennya Rhode Baldwin.
Her father became a born-again Christian in 2001 following the September 11 attacks.
He launched the Breakthrough Ministry that same year. The Faith of Our Fathers actor then formed for-profit organisation Antioch Ministry in 2008 and followed up with his third ministry Now More Than Ever in 2009.
Last year she admitted that she is not as close to her family as she used to be.
‘I’m not super close with my family at this point in my life,’ she told W Magazine in her cover story for the special summer issue. ‘Because I feel like I’m very independent.
‘I’m my own individual now, and I’ve built my own family. But when I look back on my childhood and how I grew up, I have very fond, beautiful memories.’
An insider told DailyMail.com that her father asking fans to pray for Hailey and Justin, which in turn sparked concern for the couple, was the catalyst for the growing estrangement.
‘Hailey had a blowout with her family when her dad asked for prayers for Hailey and Justin, and she told him that she did not want him meddling in her life,’ the source said.
They added that differing views on politics and religion also played a part in their deteriorating family dynamic.
