CARROLL COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Maryland State Police (MSP) are investigating after a man died and a woman was injured in a crash in Carroll County on Sunday afternoon.
Just after 2 p.m. on March 16, troopers were called to the Maryland Route 97, Old Washington Road, for a collision involving two vehicles.
MSP said its preliminary investigation revealed that a Baltimore woman was driving a Volkswagen when, for reasons unknown, she slammed head-on into a Chevrolet truck.
The driver of the truck, 78-year-old Richard Snyder of Westminister, was taken to the hospital where he died.
The woman was flown to the hospital for treatment.
Her condition is unknown as of Monday morning.
State police said once the investigation is complete, the results will be submitted to the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office. The office will then determine if charges will be filed.
Maryland Route 97 was shut down for over two hours on Sunday afternoon as investigators worked on the scene.
