FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Solving one puzzle cube is impressive. Now, imagine solving 50.
In Fairfax County, one middle schooler did just that – in record time.
According to a release from Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), Sai Charan Kintali, an eighth grader at Irving Middle School, recently solved 50 puzzle cubes in just 6 minutes and 50 seconds, setting a record in the America Book of Records.

The accomplishment follows a similar record he set in the India Book of Records in November 2024, solving the same number of cubes in 8 minutes and 24 seconds.

But there’s a “twist.” Each cube Sai solved to set both records has a unique shape and pattern. Some are traditional cubes, while others are shaped like various fruits, making the task even more challenging.

Sai, who became interested in solving the puzzles about four years ago when he found a cube in his house and began watching online tutorials, says solving the brainteasers has not only helped him win records but has also improved his academics, according to FCPS.
“My focus is way better now,” Sai told FCPS. “My ability to concentrate in class has improved, from barely focusing during tests to getting all A’s. My listening skills also improved.”
Sai says he is already practicing to get his name in the Guinness Book of World Records, which is published every year and details all types of records set worldwide.

“If you set a goal, you have to work towards it and make sure it’s something you’re passionate about. You also need to know how to reach it in the first place before setting it,” Sai said in the release.
