A 30-year-old man who was reportedly trespassing on hospital property in Reseda was electrocuted Sunday, officials announced.

Crews with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to reports of the electrocution at 18324 W. Cantara Street, where Northridge Hospital is located just after 5 p.m.

Fire officials said the man suffered significant burns over half of his body during the incident.

It is unclear what the man was doing near the hospital’s electrical equipment, but the electrocution happened when the victim’s body came into contact with an electrical vault on top of a generators on the facility’s property.

In footage of the area after the incident, crews with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power were seen working in the area where the man was injured.

Officials did not say if any of the hospital’s electrical operations were interrupted during the incident or if any of the high-voltage equipment was damaged.

No further details, including the man’s identity or whether he will face charges if he survives, were provided.
