Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell will give an update on the state of the economy Friday afternoon — less than two months since President Trump returned to the Oval Office.
The remarks, part of the U.S. Monetary Policy Forum at the University of Chicago, come after the Labor Department released the first jobs report of Trump’s second term. The report shows that the U.S. added 151,000 jobs last month and the unemployment rate rose to 4.1 percent.
The job market appears to be holding steady amid rising economic concerns and slumping consumer confidence.
Powell is scheduled to speak at 12:30 p.m. EST.
