Country trio Remember Monday has been revealed as this year’s Eurovision Song Contest UK entrant.
The group, a trio of best friends who met at school, will perform the single ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’, a song about the aftermath of a fun night out. Remember Monday co-wrote the song with Billen Ted, Thomas Stengaard and Julie ‘Kill J’ Aagaard.
Remember Monday met in 2013 and have since been regulars on the UK festival circuit. They have released two EPs and also appeared in musical theater productions.
The news was announced by the BBC this morning and came as the band appeared as guests on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2. David May, Founder of FIFTEEN 04, had led this year’s search alongside Andrew Cartmell, Executive Producer, BBC Studios North and Head of Delegation for the UK.
Remember Monday said: “‘What The Hell Just Happened’ is exactly how we’re feeling right now. It’s all very surreal; our friendship goes so far back, and we definitely never imagined that we’d be doing anything like this. This is really the music World Cup and we’ll do our best to bring it home.”
Eurovision will take place in Basel, Switzerland, this year on Saturday May 17. Last year’s winner was the Swiss entry ‘The Code’ by Nemo. The UK’s entrant was Years and Years singer Olly Alexander but he struggled to make a splash, placing 18th – although this was an improvement on 2023’s 25th place for Mae Muller.
