(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump is making an investment announcement Monday afternoon.
The White House did not release any other information on the announcement, but the Wall Street Journal reported that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. intends to invest $100 billion into chip manufacturing in the U.S. over the next four years.
The announcement comes just ahead of Trump’s first address to Congress in his second term.
The president is also dealing with the aftermath of a heated exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last week. The two got into a shouting match during an Oval Office photo op, an unprecedented clash in front of media.
Trump has signaled he is not ready to make amends with Zelenskyy and could withdraw U.S. support for Ukraine as the country continues to defend itself against Russia. European leaders have come out in support of Zelenskyy, making it possible they will step in to try to fill the gap.
