HAGERSTOWN, Md. (DC News Now) — A wildfire burned about 20 acres of land in Hagerstown on Thursday.
The Washington County Division of Emergency Services said a wildfire near Burnside Bridge Road burned about 15 to 20 acres of mountainside.
The shifting wind conditions drove the fire and made it hard for crews to contain and stay ahead of it.
About 108 firefighters from Washington and Frederick counties responded to the scene. Additional units from Berkeley and Jefferson counties in West Virginia responded as well.
Nearby residents are urged to be cautious and report any signs of rekindling.
