(NewsNation) — Kylie Jenner is a good friend.
When the beauty mogul’s hairdresser and best friend, Jesus Guerrero, died unexpectedly last week in Los Angeles, Kylie not only flew the body back to Houston, where his family lives, but paid for the entire funeral.
“She stepped in when it was needed,” a friend of Jenner’s told me. “Jesus’ family couldn’t afford to get his body or pay for the funeral, and Kylie rose to the occasion.”
Jenner is said to be devastated at the loss of Guerrero and didn’t attend the SAG Awards with her boyfriend, Timothee Chalamet, as she was dealing with the funeral arrangements.

Kylie Jenner’s tribute to Jesus Guerrero
In a tribute posted Feb. 25, Jenner wrote: “Jesus was more than my friend — he was a light in my life, a source of laughter, comfort, love, and unwavering support,” she wrote in the caption. “I don’t know how I would have made it through the last almost decade without him by my side. He had a way of making even the heaviest days feel lighter. Your words, your laughter, your kindness, your beautiful spirit will live in my heart forever. I’ll cherish all our moments together. every laugh and hug. I wish I could hug you again.”
Jesus Guerrero was with Jennifer Lopez
Guerrero had been on a shoot with Jennifer Lopez in Dubai the week before he died. After returning to the States, he fell ill and later died in hospital.
In her tribute on Instagram, Lopez wrote: “It’s no surprise your mother gave you the name Jesus. You were gentle and kind and loving, quiet and unassuming, but so powerful, and your presence was felt the minute you walked into any room. You never demanded the spotlight. You never needed to make a sound to be recognized, your heart and your talent did that as effortlessly as you artistry did. I’ve been having trouble putting the words together the last few days. The truth is I’m still in shock that such a beautiful young life has come to an end. It seems senseless and unfair. I know your family is brokenhearted as am I and everyone else who knew you. Your spirit moved on to the next phase beyond this life but I know wherever you are there is beauty and light. And the beauty and light you left here will live on forever. Rest in peace, sweet angel… 💔”
Guerrero’s family set up a GoFundMe, stating, “Currently, his family is taking care of his personal belongings and accommodations to bring him home to Houston.” The GoFundMe raised $96,000.
Jesus Guerrero’s family shows appreciation
After Jenner paid for Guerrero’s body to be flown to Houston (and his funeral), the family noted: “When this go fund me was set up we created it thinking we would have to take care of all the expenses ourselves. We didn’t want to burden any clients with this. Our family deeply appreciates Kylie for later offering to cover funeral expenses and offering up all her help and support. Donations raised through this fundraiser will go toward the costs associated with securing his belongings home. As well as other unexpected expenses to settle his assets. With his death being so unexpected there are many things that weren’t set up for a time like this. The next several months will have many hoops we will have to jump through to ensure we honor him in the best way we can. Our mother will be taking time off to ensure that everything gets taken care of and so that she can grieve properly because a mother should never have to bury her child.”
A rep for Jenner and Lopez declined to comment on the record.
