STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — On Tuesday, Stafford County deputies stopped a “reckless rider” and charged him.
In a post on Facebook, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said that a deputy was conducting speed enforcement on Warrenton Road around 3:25 p.m. The deputy caught a motorcyclist driving at 88 mph in a 55 mph zone.
“Considering it wasn’t Doc Brown in a DeLorean, Deputy McCaulley activated his emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist continued to McFly down Warrenton Road,” SCSO said.
The deputy started to chase and broadcast a description to other deputies. A first sergeant was in the area and saw the motorcyclist trying to hide as he went into a Geico parking lot. When deputies arrested the man — later identified as Michael Rock — he told them he was armed.
Rock had a firearm and two knives that deputies recovered. During a search of the motorcycle, deputies found an additional “hatchet with colorful language on it” and a substance that Rock later admitted was methamphetamine.
SCSO said that Rock also had “no motorcycle endorsement, no inspection of the motorcycle, and registration that expired ten years ago.”
Officials charged Rock with felony eluding, reckless driving, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of controlled substances, possession of a firearm while in possession of controlled substances, driving without a motorcycle endorsement, having an expired registration and having no inspection.
