Rare and never-before-seen photos of Walt Disney are heading to the auction block this March.
The rare collection includes candid photos of Walt Disney in the early 1920s, with some featuring handwritten notes.
The images depict personal moments, such as Disney on his honeymoon and rare family photos of Walt and Roy Disney using their first movie camera in the front yard of their uncle’s house in Los Angeles—where the Disney Studio was born.
The photographs were initially mailed to Walt Disney’s friend, legendary composer Carl Stalling, who later helped inspire the creation of Disney’s Silly Symphonies film series.
The rare photo collection comes from the estate of animation legend Bob Clampett, who worked for Warner Bros. and was a close friend of Stalling.
Van Eaton Galleries, known for its expertise in animation art, Disney memorabilia, and pop culture, will auction the rare artifacts.
The auction will also include additional artifacts from Clampett’s estate.
