A motorcyclist was hospitalized after being struck by minibike riders traveling the wrong way in the Antelope Valley.

On Feb. 23, at around noontime, California Highway Patrol received reports of “reckless and illegal minibike and off-road vehicle activity” that was endangering the public.

“Despite officers responding to many locations throughout the Antelope Valley area, participants in these activities repeatedly evaded law enforcement, disregarded traffic laws, and put innocent motorists at risk,” CHP said.

Hours later, at 3:35 p.m., officers responded to a hit-and-run crash on Elizabeth Lake Road, near San Francisquito Canyon Road.

A preliminary investigation found that two minibike riders were traveling on the wrong side of the road when they crashed into a rider on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Both minibike riders fled the scene, leaving the victim with major injuries, CHP said.

Investigators are searching for the suspects and are asking for the public’s help.

“This reckless disregard for public safety will not be tolerated,” said Captain Zagorski, Commander of CHP Antelope Valley. “We care deeply about the safety of our community and will do everything possible to bring those responsible to justice.”

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call the CHP Antelope Valley Area office at 661-743-6060.
