A hack making the rounds online claims to offer a way to get the freshest McDonald’s breakfast sandwiches, but is it worth the extra cost?
The hack targets sandwiches that typically come with scrambled or folded eggs, such as the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit. These folded eggs are prepared off-site, scrambled, cooked, frozen, and then reheated at the restaurant.
Breakfast insiders suggest asking for a round egg instead. This egg is cracked and cooked fresh on a small round pan at the restaurant, offering a fresher alternative.
So, how much is the upcharge? Depending on the store, it could cost three bucks – on top of whatever you usually pay for the sandwich.
In an informal test on KTLA 5 Morning News on Monday, we swapped the folded scrambled egg for a freshly cooked round egg. Both Jessica Holmes and Frank Buckley agreed: the round eggs were better.
