A person on a minibike was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in South Los Angeles early Sunday morning.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to the area of West Century Boulevard and San Pedro Street around 2 a.m. on reports of a collision between a vehicle and a minibike.
The impact of the crash caused the minibike to be completely wedged underneath the front end of the black hatchback that struck it, video from the scene shows. The hatchback itself also sustained visible damage.

According to initial reports from witnesses, the victim was a teenager; the LAPD later confirmed that the victim was in fact a 16-year-old girl.
“[The vehicle] was traveling northbound on San Pedro when it collided with the rear of a ‘pocketknife bike’ that was being driven by a 16-year-old female juvenile.”
The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash fled in an unknown direction, and as of 7:30 a.m. Sunday, they remain outstanding. No description of them was immediately available.
Authorities were unable to disclose any more information surrounding the incident.
