Authorities have identified the suspected killer of a Riverside County Cal Fire captain who was stabbed to death in Ramona on Monday, and it appears this is the second time this person killed her spouse.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office confirmed initial reports that the death of Rebecca Marodi, a 49-year-old assigned to a Cal Fire station in French Valley, was a case of domestic violence and said the suspected killer is 53-year-old Yolanda Marodi, the Press-Enterprise reports.
The Marodis married two years ago, Lt. Michael Krugh told the Press-Enterprise.
The motive for the killing remains under investigation, but authorities said Yolanda Marodi has a previous conviction for “voluntary manslaughter and other charges in 2000 in Riverside County under the name Yolanda Olejniczak,” the report added.
NBC News reports that the victim in that case was her husband, Jim Olejniczak.
She served 13 years in prison and two more on parole, ultimately being discharged from parole in 2015.
Yolanda Marodi remains on the loose. She’s said to be 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs about 165 pounds.
