On Feb. 10, Rialto police responded to a smash-and-grab robbery at an Ulta store in Rialto.
Surveillance video captured three suspects rushing into the shop and quickly grabbing merchandise off shelves before tossing them into bags. One suspect used a crowbar to smash glass displays filled with designer fragrances.
The trio escaped with around $9,000 worth of merchandise. They fled the store in an older-model black Mercedes sedan before officers arrived.
On Feb. 19, police located one suspect — Damarcus Brown, 24, a Banning resident. During the arrest, officers recovered some stolen items and later seized his vehicle.
Brown was taken into custody for a felony probation violation, robbery, grand theft, and possession of stolen property.
Police said Brown is suspected of being involved in a retail theft crime ring affecting multiple jurisdictions.
“Rialto PD has zero tolerance for retail crimes and is committed to aggressively investigating and prosecuting offenders,” police said in a statement. “Businesses and residents deserve a safe community, and we remain committed to holding offenders accountable.”
Authorities are still searching for the other two suspects.
